Link Popularity and your Web Optimisation and Promotion

Link popularity, in its simplest form, is the number and quality of other sites that link to your site. 

Links from other sites are potentially important to your web optimisation and promotion because:

  • They encourage direct visitor traffic from the other site
  • They are a major factor in determining the status (or ‘page rank’) that Google and other major search engines give to your site. And the higher your status, the higher your site appears in search results (N.B. more or less).

How To Increase Link Popularity – NCS Services

Like many other aspects of web optimisation and promotion, there are hidden complexities such as:

  • Sites that you link with /from should be appropriate or have a similar theme to your site
  • You often need to provide reciprocal links to the other sites and this may not be commercially appropriate for your business
  • You can get your site banned if you link with the ‘wrong’ sites. Conversely, high status sites can be very beneficial
  • The actual wording of your links is important
  • The number of links on the page afects teh benefit you receive

  • We revise or submit new registrations using suitable keywords and descriptions

2. Link Research

  • Sites from your own or related industries can be excellent candidates for reciprocal links or for commercial agreements/advertising. We research competitor and appropriate related sites from your own industry to identify potential link candidates.   
  • Identify and list 100 sites linking to websites in your industry for consideration as potential link targets £50 plus Vat
  • Identify and manually assess sites to produce a filtered list of recommended sites for link approaches - £100 plus Vat for 20 filtered link candidates

3. Link Approach Programme

  • We start with a filtered list of candidates from yourselves or from our Link Research
  • We set up links where appropriate on your site to the target reciprocal link partners
  • We approach candidate sites for a reciprocal link or other commercial agreement
  • We review candidate sites after 2 weeks and remove links to sites which have not set up a link to your site
  • £10 plus Vat per link approach  

4.  Webmaster’s Pages

  • We create a page for your site containing optimised link text, logo and coding for use by webmasters wishing to link to your site. £75 plus Vat
  • Insertion into your site and make the necessary navigation changes on your behalf. Charge depends on existing navigation coding set up and size of site. Typically £50 for up to 20 page site. 

5. Article Marketing

  • Reciprocal links are still useful but one way links to your site these days are much more powerful, especially from higher ranking and relevant sites 
  • With article marketing, you write articles and put them on your site  - good for search engine content, visitor interest, increased site credibility etc but crucially you allow them to be used on other sites with a credit and a link from the other site to yourselves. 

6. Internet News Releases

  • Write new releases with a link to your site, then issue them over the internet. If done well, they should be copied onto many pages over the internet, all with a link back to you
